Stephen was a respected professional and beloved Account Manager at New Leaf Landscape Services. His untimely loss leaves a profound void in the lives of his family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Born on April 12, 1977, in Gainesville, Georgia, Stephen was the son of William and Margaret Murray. He grew up in this close-knit community, where he formed lifelong friendships that would become the foundation of his adult life.
Known for his kind heart, quick wit, and warm smile, Stephen was a devoted son, brother, and friend. He attended Gainesville High School, excelling both academically and athletically. His passion for sports and the outdoors was evident early on, as he played baseball, soccer, and enjoyed hiking with friends. Stephen’s high school years were defined by his athleticism, as well as his loyalty and camaraderie, qualities that shaped his life and relationships.
After high school, Stephen attended the University of Georgia, where he earned a degree in Business Administration. It was during his time at UGA that he discovered his passion for landscaping and sustainable business practices. He was drawn to the balance between nature and commerce, a theme that would influence his career in the years to come. Stephen began his professional journey at New Leaf Landscape Services, where he quickly earned a reputation as a dedicated and reliable Account Manager.
Stephen’s commitment to his clients was unparalleled. He took immense pride in building lasting relationships with both colleagues and customers. His attention to detail, creative problem-solving, and passion for transforming outdoor spaces helped elevate New Leaf Landscape Services to new heights. Yet, it was not only his professional skills that made Stephen so special; it was his genuine care for others. Whether offering a listening ear to a colleague or going the extra mile to ensure a client’s satisfaction, Stephen always put people first. His generosity, sense of humor, and unwavering support brightened the lives of all who knew him.
Beyond his career, Stephen was a devoted husband to his wife, Emily, and a loving father to their two children, Sarah and Jake. He cherished his role as a father and loved spending time with his children—whether coaching their soccer games, attending school events, or enjoying a family hike in the North Georgia mountains. Stephen’s love for Emily was evident in everything he did. Their bond was unshakeable, and they were true partners in life.

A celebration of Stephen’s life will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Gainesville, 751 Green Street, Gainesville, Georgia. Visitation will be on Wednesday evening, December 4, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Road, Gainesville, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Gainesville Community Garden or an environmental organization of your choice—causes that were close to Stephen’s heart.
