Shannon Dalton, Bethalto IL Death:Â Shannon Dalton, 41, of Bethalto, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on November 30, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, and cherished memories. A beloved daughter, sister, and friend, Shannon was known for her compassionate spirit, infectious smile, and vibrant personality that touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born on March 10, 1983, in Alton, Illinois, to Thomas and Annette (Stewart) Dalton, Shannon spent her life in Bethalto, where she formed lifelong friendships and embraced her community as a second family. Her presence was always uplifting—her laughter and smile made others feel welcome, seen, and loved.
Shannon was a graduate of Bethalto Community High School, where she was actively involved in various school activities. She also excelled academically and developed a passion for art that stayed with her throughout her life. Her talent for capturing the beauty of the world through her artwork left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to view her pieces, showcasing her creativity and dedication.
After high school, Shannon pursued a degree in business at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE), where she graduated with honors. She began her career in the local business community and found her true calling at Dalton & Sons Insurance Agency. Known for her exceptional work ethic and attention to detail, Shannon earned the respect of her colleagues and clients alike, always bringing a positive attitude and commitment to excellence.
Though Shannon thrived professionally, it was her relationships with family and friends that meant the most to her. Above all, she was a devoted daughter and sister. She shared a special bond with her parents and her younger brother, Ryan, who was a constant source of love and support. Shannon was a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews, who adored spending time with their “fun” Aunt Shannon. Her circle of friends was vast, and her generosity knew no bounds. Shannon had an innate ability to make everyone feel valued, always ready to offer a listening ear, words of encouragement, or a shoulder to lean on.
She was a friend who showed up—whether it was a crisis or simply a moment of joy to share. Her heart was open, and her love for others was unwavering. Outside of work, Shannon loved nature, often spending time hiking and walking in the woods. She found peace in tending to her garden, creating beautiful landscapes as vibrant as her personality. She also enjoyed traveling, experiencing new places and cultures with a sense of adventure and curiosity that was infectious. Shannon faced the challenges life brought her with grace and resilience. Her positive outlook, even during difficult times, inspired those around her.
She believed in the power of kindness and always sought to uplift others, demonstrating strength in both her personal and emotional life. Her ability to remain hopeful and kind, even in the face of adversity, was a testament to her deep faith in the goodness of humanity. Shannon is survived by her parents, Thomas and Annette Dalton; her brother, Ryan Dalton of Bethalto; her nieces, Harper and Grace Dalton; her nephews, Owen and Elijah Dalton; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Robert and Linda Stewart, and her paternal grandparents, Thomas and Margaret Dalton.
Though Shannon’s passing leaves a deep sadness, her memory will live on in the countless lives she touched. Her legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will continue to inspire and guide those who knew her. Shannon’s beautiful soul will never be forgotten, and her impact on the world will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved her. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Shannon’s name to a charity that supports mental health awareness, a cause she deeply cared about.
