Born on July 14, 1958, in Troy, Illinois, John was the son of Joseph and Alice (Schroeder) Zweck. Raised in Troy, he was a proud graduate of Triad High School’s class of 1976. After high school, John attended Southwestern Illinois College, earning his degree. His lifelong passion for helping others led him to return to his hometown, where he dedicated his career to serving his community.
John spent almost 30 years at Triad High School, beginning his career as a teacher. His impact in the classroom was profound, as he not only shared his expertise but also built lasting relationships with his students. Known for his patience and personal approach, John made learning enjoyable and accessible for everyone. His students appreciated his ability to connect with them on a deeper level, and many remembered him as a mentor who instilled a love of learning.
As his career progressed, John expanded his role at the school, becoming a security officer. This position allowed him to continue supporting students while ensuring their safety. His calm demeanor, fairness, and vigilant presence made him a valued member of the security team, trusted by both students and staff. John is survived by his children, David (Jessica) Zweck and Samantha (Kyle) Johnson, both of Troy; his grandchildren, Ella, Oliver, and Sophie; his siblings, Mary (Dave) Kline, Joe Zweck, and Jim (Tina) Zweck; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Alice Zweck, and his brother, Mike Zweck. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the hospital staff and the Triad community for their support and prayers during this difficult time.
